Biffy Clyro bassist James Johnston has said that he wishes he and his bandmates were more outspoken like Liam Gallagher. The band are currently working on the follow-up to their fifth studio album ‘Only Revolutions’ and are also set to headline this year’s RockNess festival in June, but Johnston refused to say that he and his bandmates were now Scotland’s biggest group and admitted he wished they were as confident as the Beady Eye frontman. “It’s awkward to talk about,” he told the Daily Record. “It’s a nice thing to hear, but it’s not something we think about or ever dreamed about really.” He went on to add:

“I wish we were more outspoken like Liam Gallagher. I love his patter. He is actually a really nice guy. We bumped into Liam and Noel when we were in Los Angeles a few years back.”

The bassist also revealed that the former Oasis members had serenaded his band with drunken renditions of their own songs, adding:

“We were in the same studio and went to see The Duke Spirit. Alan McGee was there and a big bunch of us together. We all went down to a reggae bar. Liam knew our songs and sang three of them and then Noel got on stage and started singing. They were all pretty drunk at the time.”

Earlier this month, Biffy Clyro revealed that their new LP would be a double album and that they were aiming to finish work on the record by April. They will be joined by Mumford and Sons, Justice and Azealia Banks at this year’s RockNess festival, which takes place beside Loch Ness in Dores near Inverness on the weekend of 8th – 10th June 2012.
