Pete Doherty Reunites With Estranged Babyshambles Bandmate
Pete Doherty reunited onstage with his former Babyshambles bandmate Gemma Clarke in London last night. The Libertines man was joined by Clarke, who quit the band in 2005, during the encore at his acoustic show at Nambucca. She drummed on versions of ‘Fuck Forever’ and ‘Wolfman’ before returning behind the bar at the venue, where she now works.
The last-minute gig, which was announced on Saturday, saw Doherty play a number of new songs, some still untitled, which were also heard at his his gigs at Brixton Jamm last month. Doherty has been posting works in progress and demos of new songs online in the recent months. After kicking off with solo track ‘Sheepskin Tearaway’, Doherty was joined by singer Suzi Martin for newer song ‘Bird Cage’. Later, long-time collaborator Wolfman appeared onstage for new tune ‘Siberian Fur’, along with the pair’s 2004 Top 10 single ‘For Lovers’ and ‘Wolfman’, which was reprised during the encore. Libertines singles ‘What A Waster’ and ‘Can’t Stand Me Now’ were also given an airing during the set, along with a cover of Talking Heads’ ‘Psycho Killer’.
