Ducktails – ‘Under Cover’
Summary: Smooth, sexy chill-wave layered over a brilliantly constructed piece of pop.

Ducktails is the solo recording project of Matt Mondanile, otherwise known as the guitarist for legendary American indie outfit Real Estate. Featuring a disorienting blend of horns, reverb-laden guitars and fuzzy vocals, ‘Under Cover’ is pure bliss. The messy, laid back vibe somewhat masks the brilliance of the pop song underneath. In fact, on one level it wouldn’t sound out of place among the funk revival instigated by Nile Rogers et al. on ‘Get Lucky.’ As likely to set your head spinning as your toes tapping, Ducktails instead channels this sense of rhythm and fluidity into six beautiful minutes of hazy, chill-wave wonder.
