Lord Huron – ‘She Lit a Fire’
Summary: Hazy American Indie folk with a welcome hint of nostalgia.

From the off, ‘She Lit a Fire’ by Lord Huron is warm, uplifting, and exactly the kind of acoustic-driven indie that has dominated the airwaves for most of the summer. So what makes this single so special? Well, the beautifully pitched vocals, rich sound and emotive yet understated lyrics probably help. “She lit a fire, and now she’s in my every thought”. It’s as simple as that, and yet it feels so much more as singer Ben Schneider’s almost-celestial voice echoes across a dense musical landscape, conjuring impressions and sensations of the grass-roots American West that provides so much of the band’s inspiration. This is a brilliant release from a group who don’t deserve to be unknown over here for much longer.
