Christopher Owens Announces London Date
Former Girls frontman Christopher Owens has released details of his first live performance since the announcement of his highly anticipated solo debut, Lysandre. The former Girls frontman will premiere Lysandre from start to finish at a very special hometown show at The Lodge in San Francisco on Friday November 9th. The show, featuring the full band from Lysandre’s studio recordings, will be filmed and only a small portion of tickets will be made available for purchase.
In addition to the San Francisco date, Christopher Owens will perform Lysandre in full at Vodafone Mexefest in Lisbon (Dec 7th), Paris’ Gaite Lyrique (Dec 8th) and London’s St Giles Church (Dec 10th). All tickets are on-sale now.
Lysandre – written, recorded and sequenced as a complete narrative – was inspired by the events of Girls’ first ever tour in the summer of 2008. Described by Owens as, “A coming of age story, a road trip story, a love story”, the album will be released on Fat Possum (January 15th 2013) and on Turnstile (January 14th 2013) for ROW.
Owens announced Lysandre’s release last week and streamed two tracks, Lysandre’s Theme & Here We Go from Christopher Owens’ Official Site.
Written almost entirely in one creative outpouring and recorded with former Girls producer Doug Boehm, Lysandre follows Owens from San Francisco to New York City and on to the French Riviera before a melancholy return home and a beautifully articulated epilogue. Perfectly framed by intricate instrumentation, gorgeous backing vocals and pristine production, Owens’ enthralling, personal songwriting takes center stage and delivers a heartbreaking rumination on love, longing, friendship, adventure and the thrill of finding an audience for your art.
