Ivor Novello Nominations Announced

The annual songwriting and performance awards; the IVOR NOVELLO AWARDS have announced their nominees for 2014. London Grammar, Palma Violets and John Newman will all contend the main honour of Best Song Musically & Lryically.

The Ivor Novello Awards are named named after the Welsh composer and actor Ivor Novello; who died in 1955. The awards are handed out by the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors (BASCA); with previous winners including Ed Sheeran for ‘The A Team’, Amy Winehouse for ‘Love is A Losing Game’ and Lily Allen for ‘The Fear’.

London Grammars’ ‘Strong’ will go against ‘Best of Friends’ by Palma Violets and ‘Love Me Again’ by John Newman for the main award of the evening. Arctic Monkeys ‘AM’ will go against Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds and Laura Mvula for the best album awards whilst Everything Everything have a nomination for Best Contemporary Song for ‘Kemosabe’.

The award ceremony will take place on 22 May in London at the Grosvenor House Hotel.
