Mike Skinner & Robert Harvey Confirm Plans for A Joint Album

Mike Skinner
Former frontman of The Music Rob Harvey has confirmed he is working on an album with ex-Streets man Mike Skinner. The pair currently have over 60 songs to choose from under their new project The D-O-T. The pair have already posted up a series of tracks on their official website, with Harvey taking up the lead vocals on the majority of the songs.

But this is the first time either of them have spoken about recording an album. “We’d both in bands for 10 years and obviously Mike was really successful with what he did and I had a little bit of success with The Music boys but we were just bored of doing the same thing,” Harvey told NME. “So we just wanted to do something different [after our bands had split].”

Harvey also confirmed that the pair have been working with rapper Elro and Ghostpoet. “It was dead easy working with them and it was nice to be involved in the urban side of things because I’ve always been involved in rock music,” Harvey explained. “It’s great because we’re not tied to any contracts, it’s just about doing something interesting. We’ve done 60 songs – some of them are straight pop songs, some are dancey. We can’t keep still neither of us, we’re always writing stuff.”

Benjamin Francis Leftwich also recently revealed that he has been working with Skinner. The Streets and The Music both brought the curtain down on their 10 year careers in 2011.
