The Best Gigs & Events Happening In October

Now that the new gig season is well underway, this is a roundup of what we consider to be the Top Ten events happening in October.

Anna Calvi – 1st-7th October.
After releasing her third album ‘Hunter’ to rave reviews from fans and critics alike, Anna Calvi brings her unique brand of rock n’ roll prowess to the UK across a handful of dates. The tour will take in: Manchester o2 Ritz, Newcastle Boiler Shop, Birmingham Town Hall, Brighton All Saint’s Church, Bristol SWX and London Roundhouse.

The Coral – 3rd-18th October.
In support of latest album ‘Move Through The Dawn’, the Hoylake 5-piece will be bringing their acclaimed indie stylings to venues across the country. Support on all dates comes from She Drew The Gun and Cut Glass Kings. The Coral will play: Newcastle Riverside, Birmingham o2 Institute, Leeds Beckett Students’ Union, Sheffield Leadmill, Bristol SWX, London Koko, Liverpool Uni The Mountford Hall, Manchester Albert Hall and Camden Electric Ballroom.

Editors – 7th-20th October.
Birmingham’s Editors are hitting the UK after a highly successful festival season and highly acclaimed sixth album ‘Violence’. Tom Smith and Co. will be delighting audiences with hits old and new in what could be their last UK gigs of the album campaign. Editors will be playing: Southampton o2 Guildhall, Bristol Marble Factory, Nottingham Rock City, Newcastle Northumbria Uni Domain, Manchester o2 Apollo and Leeds Academy.

Tom Grennan – 10th-25th October.
Having already broken the record for the number of concerts performed in one day in different places back in the early Summer, smashed numerous festivals with stunning performances and scored a top selling debut album, Bedford’s Tom Grennan will be bringing his new show to some rather intimate venues ahead of larger dates to be expected in 2019, support on these dates comes from Elli Ingram. Tom Grennan will play: Newcastle Institute, Leeds o2 Academy, Manchester Academy, Bristol o2 Academy, Southampton o2 Guildhall, Brixton o2 Academy, Oxford o2 Academy, Leicester o2 Academy, Liverpool o2 Academy, Norwich LCR, Birmingham o2 Academy, Sheffield o2 Academy and Margate Winter Gardens.

Tom Walker – 13th-20th October.
To promote the release of debut album ‘What A Time To Be Alive’ (released 19th October), Scotland’s Tom Walker is set to preview the release with a slew of UK dates. Support across all dates comes from Maisie Peters and Sody. Tom Walker will be playing: Leeds Uni Stylus, Manchester o2 Ritz, Sheffield Leadmill, Birmingham o2 Institute and Exeter Lemon Grove.

Rudimental – 16th-27th October.
Ahead of their new album ‘Toast To Our Differences’ (released 25th January), the London based drum and bass outfit are previewing the new release with a run of intimate UK tour dates later this month. The band will be supported on all dates by Ray BLK. Rudimental will be playing: Glasgow o2 Academy, Nottingham Rock City, Leeds o2 Academy, Newcastle o2 Academy, Sheffield o2 Academy, Birmingham o2 Academy, Manchester o2 Apollo, Bournemouth International Centre and 3 nights at London Alexandra Palace.

Fickle Friends – 18th-27th October.
Having released debut album ‘You Are Someone Else’ earlier in the year and a run of successful UK Festivals and USA tour dates, the Brighton based 5-piece are set to tour across the UK and may even be debuting new material. Catch the band live at one of the following dates: Bristol SWX, London o2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire, Cambridge Junction, Nottingham The Level, Glasgow The Garage, Newcastle Institute, Birmingham o2 Academy 2 and Manchester Academy 2.

Gaz Coombes – 18th-28th October.
After releasing his third solo album ‘World’s Strongest Man’ back in May, Gaz Coombes follows a sold-out UK Tour, solo acoustic dates and multiple festival gigs with another round of UK full band shows. Expect highlights from all 3 of his solo records and maybe even an old Supergrass track… Support on all dates comes from Willie J Healey. Gaz will be playing at the following venues: Brighton Concorde 2, Hull Welly Club, Edinburgh Liquid Rooms, Newcastle Riverside, Manchester Academy 2, Sheffield Foundry and Nottingham Rescue Rooms.

U2- 19th-28th October.
The Irish giants are returning to the UK shores for their ‘eXPERIENCE + iNNOCENCE’ tour in what is set to be their smallest shows for a few years. Following the success of their ‘Joshua Tree’ tour last year and latest album ‘Songs of Innocence’, this is set to be a rather special run of dates. U2 will be playing at: Manchester Arena, London o2 Arena and Belfast SSE Arena.

Richard Ashcroft – 26th-31st October.
Having just released his new single ‘Surprised by The Joy’ from forthcoming album ‘Natural Rebel’, Richard Ashcroft will be playing a handful of UK dates to preview the new material alongside some old favourites from his solo career and The Verve. Richard Ashcroft will be playing: Glasgow Barrowland, Middlesbrough Town Hall, Nottingham Rock City, Manchester Albert Hall and London o2 Kentish Town Forum.
