LISTEN: SOHN – ‘Rennen’

Ahead of its release on January 13th, SOHN has shared the title track from his forthcoming album Rennen. Following recent singles ‘Conrad’ and ‘Signal’, ‘Rennen’ offers a pause for reflection as it subtly down-shifts in tempo. Once again demonstrating his considerable abilities as both a songwriter and a producer, SOHN’s beatific voice soars over warm analogue layers.

For his follow-up to 2014’s debut Tremors, London-born SOHN has traded Vienna for the warmth of Los Angeles, but the influence of his former home still lingers (Rennen is a German verb meaning ‘to run’). Resuming a nocturnal schedule – as he did withTremors – SOHN spent a month writing alone in northern California, recording until the morning. An exercise in restraint, SOHN used only a handful of musical elements on each track, allowing the spotlight to shine on the vocals, melodies and rhythms.

Rennen will be released on LP, CD and digitally from January 13, 2017. For pre-order information, head to smarturl.it/Rennen
