Tommy Lee Hails New Smashing Pumpkins Record

Tommy Lee has spoken out about what to expect from the upcoming new album from The Smashing Pumpkins – stating that it’s ‘the best thing Billy Corgan has ever written.

The Mótley Crue icon is playing drums on the new album, ‘Monuments To An Elegy’, and in a new interview with Billboard, says that it’s shaping up to be something pretty special.
”I think he has probably the best record he’s ever written. These are like epic, goose-bump songs. It sounds like the first couple of Smashing Pumpkins records. I was fucking blown away.”
Lee added that he hopes to return to the studio in the coming weeks to complete the songs, and that it was likely to be released with another SP album called ‘Days For Night’ in 2015.

The news comes after Billy Corgan struck a deal with BMG earlier this year for a dual album release. Recording officially began in March, with Corgan promising a return to the harder edged, metallic sounding Smashing Pumpkins that fans have been clamouring for. Producer Howard Willing will be working on the album, the last Corgan record he worked on being Adore in 1998.

“Think: ‘guitars, guitars, guitars, and more guitars;’ but more so on the epic side of things than say, grossly metallic,” said Corgan, describing the new record.
